St. Tikhon Church in Blountville, TN, in cooperation with the Synodal School of Liturgical Music, is pleased to announce an English-language Liturgical Music Symposium, to be held October 20-22, 2022, on the parish grounds in Blountville.

With experienced instructors in a variety of disciplines, including vocal technique, conducting, and liturgics, participants will have the opportunity to deepen their own understanding and experience in these areas. In addition to a keynote lecture, hands-on workshops in music and liturgics, a roundtable discussion, and choral practice, the symposium participants will sing the divine services on Friday evening and Saturday morning for the feast of the Holy Apostle James the Lesser.

Workshop topics will include “The Order of Divine Services” (with Archpriest Matthew Williams and Peter Fekula), “Voice & Diction” (with Laryssa Doohovskoy), “Conducting,” “Church Reading,” and others. The work of the symposium will especially seek to address the challenges faced by new and smaller choirs, which often have frequent shifts in singers (and experience levels) from service to service.

The symposium will open with Vespers at 5:00 PM on October 20, followed by refreshments, introductions, and an initial choral practice. The symposium will continue through Friday and Saturday and conclude with a roundtable discussion on Saturday afternoon, prior to the regularly scheduled weekend services at the parish.

Registration and additional information are available at www.sainttikhonroc.org/2022_symposium.

Since you are here…

…we do have a small request. More and more people visit Orthodoxy and the World website. However, resources for editorial are scarce. In comparison to some mass media, we do not make paid subscription. It is our deepest belief that preaching Christ for money is wrong.

Having said that, Pravmir provides daily articles from an autonomous news service, weekly wall newspaper for churches, lectorium, photos, videos, hosting and servers. Editors and translators work together towards one goal: to make our four websites possible - Pravmir.ru, Neinvalid.ru, Matrony.ru and Pravmir.com. Therefore our request for help is understandable.

For example, 5 euros a month is it a lot or little? A cup of coffee? It is not that much for a family budget, but it is a significant amount for Pravmir.

If everyone reading Pravmir could donate 5 euros a month, they would contribute greatly to our ability to spread the word of Christ, Orthodoxy, life's purpose, family and society.
