The collected funds will be transferred to the account of the Synodal Department for charity and will be directed mainly to the purchase of necessary items in those regions with the largest number of homeless people from Ukraine, realted the Synodal Department for charity press service.
With the blessing of Patriarch Kirill, the coordination of assistance to refugees on Russian territory was assigned to the Synodal Department for charity of the Moscow Patriarchate. The department receives information about church organizations that are ready to host Ukrainian refugees. In various regions of the country, the Church has provided shelter to refugees, giving them regular humanitarian aid, while nurses are on duty in the camps of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. Priests are sent to these camps to provide spiritual support.
The most active assistance has been given by the Church to those Ukrainian refugees who have arrived to the Voronezh and Rostov regions. From the Rostov diocese’s warehouse, batches of humanitarian aid have been sent to refugee camps, border and municipal temporary accommodation centers.
Requisites for donations to help Ukrainian civilians will be published on the official website of the Synodal Department for charity. The same website will hold information on the donations and expenditures.
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, temporary accommodation centers in Russia currently house more than 20,000 refugees.
