His Holiness, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, has suspended the activity of the Moscow mission of the Patriarchate of Alexandria and All Africa.
“Activity of the Moscow mission of the Patriarchate of Alexandria and all Africa has been temporarily suspended,” the Russian Orthodox Church’s Department for External Church Relations head Archpriest Igor Yakimchuk told Interfax on Monday.
He said the final decision on the mission’s activity might be made by the Holy Synod at its meeting in Moscow in late December.
At the moment, the main item on the agenda of inter-Orthodox relations is the recognition of the non-canonical religious organization in Ukraine established by the Patriarchate of Constantinople last year. The organization has been recognized by Constantinople, and the heads of the Greek and Alexandria Orthodox Churches.
