“From May 4, the churches will be open for individual worship. From May 17, the faithful will be able to participate in the Divine Liturgy,” said Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in his address, reports the Greek Herald.
Restrictions on the movement of citizens will be lifted on May 4, but restrictions on travel to other prefectures remain in place for two weeks. The prime minister thanked all citizens for their stance.
“The experience of this year’s Easter was not easy for any of us,” he said, thanking both the Archbishop and the clergy for their stance on the issue.
“Please allow me a few short words about the Church: I thank the Archbishop and the clergy for our understanding and cooperation. The experience of this year’s Easter was not easy for any of us. It turned out, however, that it was necessary for everyone. From May 4, the churches will be open for individual worship. And from Sunday, May 17, the faithful will be able to participate in the Divine Liturgy and other services. However, this will be implemented always with strict rules to be agreed upon with the Holy Synod and the scientific community,” he stated.
