With the blessing of His Grace Bishop Irenei of London and Western Europe of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, the annual winter camp for children and adolescents began, hosted by the Elevation of the Holy Cross Cathedral in Geneva, Switzerland. Over 40 kids headed by the director of the parish school, Protopriest Emilian Pocinoc, arrived at the parish house in Leisin, Vaud Canton, on December 27, 2019.

The traditional winter retreat, which includes skiing, skating and sledding, ascending the Alps and visiting local attractions, is combined with spiritual ministry. Each day begins with prayers at St Panteleimon Church, and clergymen lead spiritual discussions and current events in a relaxed atmosphere in which the children spend time with a priest.

On Sunday, December 29, the Vityaz’ Scouts from their own nearby winter camp in France came for Divine Liturgy. The service, headed by Fr Emilian, was adorned by the beautiful singing of the choir consisting of young Genevans, most of whom made confession and partook of the Holy Gifts. The young people from all over the region then continued their friendly interaction at a common luncheon.

The camp continued until January 3, 2020.

Since you are here…

…we do have a small request. More and more people visit Orthodoxy and the World website. However, resources for editorial are scarce. In comparison to some mass media, we do not make paid subscription. It is our deepest belief that preaching Christ for money is wrong.

Having said that, Pravmir provides daily articles from an autonomous news service, weekly wall newspaper for churches, lectorium, photos, videos, hosting and servers. Editors and translators work together towards one goal: to make our four websites possible - Pravmir.ru, Neinvalid.ru, Matrony.ru and Pravmir.com. Therefore our request for help is understandable.

For example, 5 euros a month is it a lot or little? A cup of coffee? It is not that much for a family budget, but it is a significant amount for Pravmir.

If everyone reading Pravmir could donate 5 euros a month, they would contribute greatly to our ability to spread the word of Christ, Orthodoxy, life's purpose, family and society.
