The legendary Russian photographer, chemist (student of Mendeleev), inventor, publisher, educator, and social activist Sergei Mikhailovich Prokudin-Gorsky died seventy years ago. He went down in history as one of the pioneers of color photography and as the author of a huge archive of photographs from the beginning of the twentieth century that has come down to us.
Today we would like to share the amazing discoveries of the International Scientific Project “The Legacy of S. M. Prokudin-Gorsky.” Contemporary photographers followed in the footsteps of Prokudin-Gorsky and, using digital cameras, took the same shots as Sergei Mikhailovich did one hundred years ago using glass photographic plates through colored filters.
