A bike ride from Kiev to Pochaev for peace in Ukraine began on May 14, 2019. Before this cycling pilgrimage, the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, His Beatitude Onuphy, Metropolitan of Kiev and All Ukraine, blessed the participants, reports the Information Department of the UOC.
The coordinator of the bike ride is Archpriest Peter Semaschuk, Rector of St. Theodore Church in Kiev. The twenty pilgrims aged from 17 to 75 years old will cycle over 100 kilometers daily, following the route Kiev – Zhytomyr – Korets – Dubno – Kremenets – Pochayev.
Both laymen and priests take part in the bike ride. The pilgrims will perform night liturgies in Zhytomyr, Korets, Dubno, and Pochayev.
The bike ride will end on May 17th. On this day, a celebration in honor of the Venerable Job, Abbot of Pochaev, will begin at the Pochaev Lavra.
