The wave of solemn chime “Glory to Thee, God!” swept at noon on July 28, 2021 in all churches and monasteries of the countries where Orthodox Christians celebrated the Day of the Baptism of Rus.
At the same time, the bells rang in all cities of Ukraine, Russia, Belarus and in foreign parishes of fraternal states. The bell-ringing lasted 15 minutes, informing the faithful about the culmination of the celebration.
The tradition of celebrating the Day of the Baptism of Rus with bell-ringing was established on the day of the commemoration of the Holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince Vladimir as a call to common prayer. It is the crown of the celebration. For the first time, a simultaneous solemn chime united Orthodox churches and monasteries in Ukraine, Russia, Belarus, as well as Moldova, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan in 2012.
