It may difficult for those who have embarked on the path of spiritual life, but this is the only way to find the Truth said His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kiev and All Ukraine in his sermon during the Divine Liturgy in the Church of St. Agapit of the Caves at the Holy Dormition Kiev-Pechersk Lavra on May 15, 2022, on the 4th Sunday after Pascha, on the Sunday of the Paralytic, reports the Information and Educational Department of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
“Man loves to follow the path of least resistance, but in spiritual life we should not look for easy ways. In spiritual life one must seek the Truth. And even though it may be hard on this path, it may be difficult, but one needs to follow this path,” said His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry.
The archpastor recalled that the Truth is Christ, and every Christian “should follow Christ and go to Christ.” No matter how hard it is on this path, the one who follows it “will find such spiritual helpers who will extend a helping hand to him in difficult times,” and God also grants such a person His grace.
“And when a person acquires this grace of love, he unites with God, Who is Love. For such a person, difficulties are no longer a tragedy, and he overcomes difficulties, and he reaches eternal life in Heaven. May the Lord help us and bless our land with peace,” His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry concluded.
Special prayers for peace in Ukraine were offered during the divine service.
