For the first time in two years, Orthodox believers living on the eastern coast of the island of Cebu in the Philippines were able to partake of the Holy Mysteries of Christ.
The Orthodox community on the island of Cebu was formed three years ago in the city of the same name on the initiative of a local businessman, Nikita Osharov, reports the Patriarchal Exarchate of Southeast Asia on VKontakte.
The community includes about 20 people, mostly Russians, for whom it was possible to organize a parish and monthly services.

“Unfortunately, during the pandemic, most of our compatriots had to leave the Philippines, so there were a few people left in the parish who had not been able to partake of the Holy Mysteries of Christ for two years,” the message says.
However, the other day, after the restrictions on flights between Manila and Cebu were lifted, the Dean of the Manila District of the Philippine-Vietnamese Diocese, Hieromonk Alexy (Lapshin), was able to visit the community on December 4, on the feast of the Entry of the Most Holy Theotokos into the Temple.
Father Alexy celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the parish and gave communion to everyone. The Patriarchal Exarchate hopes that “the difficult time for the parish is over.”
