On September 1, Knowledge Day, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia reminded students of theological schools of the Russian Orthodox Church that study is not only getting information and skills, but also working constantly on oneself.
“Getting an education in theological schools is a special period in the life of young people. This is not only the accumulation of knowledge, but also constant work on oneself, the acquisition of valuable experience in building relationships with different people,” the Patriarch said in his message of congratulations.
His Holiness Patriarch Kirill especially emphasized that “every church worker is called to be a fully developed person, capable of convincingly testifying about the truth of God both from the ambo, in friendly conversation, and through the media.”
In connection with the beginning of the new academic year, Patriarch Kirill expressed his joy that it will be held in full-time format, because “it is very important for the educational process, as well as for self-education and spiritual growth.”
“In addition, you will again have the opportunity to jointly participate in divine services and sacraments, which you were deprived of during the period of strict restrictions caused by the spread of the coronavirus infection,” added the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church.
He wished teachers and students “success in their work and in various obediences, and peace of mind and fullness of strength.”
