Metropolitan Anthony (Pakanich): We Should Do Everything in Our Power so That People Are Not Deprived of the Sacraments

The main task of the Church is to bring people to God.

The main goal of the life of a Christian is communion with God and union with God. Everything else, seemingly important, is secondary.

All Sacraments, divine services, rituals, and prayers direct the human heart to communion with God, lead away from fuss, worldly thoughts, and elevate a person to this main goal: union with God.

The Church is always together with her people. In their sorrows and joys. From one’s birth to death. Everything in the Church prudently serves to people’s comfort, inspiration, and help. It is true both figuratively, and literally every day of the existence of this world. The Church is together with people, including healthy and the sick. The Church is with those who rejoice and those who mourn, the Church is with those who are being born and with those who are dying.

The Church cannot exist without people. They are her soul, her pulse. But Christians cannot exist without the Church either: outside the Church, without the Sacraments and worship, in the broadest sense of the word.

The Lord created the Church for people and He will never leave Her. All Sacraments are invisibly performed by God Himself. He blesses everyone who enters the temple. The Church is the body of Christ, and we are His members.

Therefore, it is so important not to deprive people of God’s communion in the form of divine services, in the form of unity with Christ through the Sacraments. And even in the most difficult situations, everything needs to be done so that people are not deprived of this.

Since you are here…

…we do have a small request. More and more people visit Orthodoxy and the World website. However, resources for editorial are scarce. In comparison to some mass media, we do not make paid subscription. It is our deepest belief that preaching Christ for money is wrong.

Having said that, Pravmir provides daily articles from an autonomous news service, weekly wall newspaper for churches, lectorium, photos, videos, hosting and servers. Editors and translators work together towards one goal: to make our four websites possible - Pravmir.ru, Neinvalid.ru, Matrony.ru and Pravmir.com. Therefore our request for help is understandable.

For example, 5 euros a month is it a lot or little? A cup of coffee? It is not that much for a family budget, but it is a significant amount for Pravmir.

If everyone reading Pravmir could donate 5 euros a month, they would contribute greatly to our ability to spread the word of Christ, Orthodoxy, life's purpose, family and society.
