Faith is the guideline that shows a person the path to God. When a person lives by faith, they reach their goal, said His Beatitude Onuphry, Metropolitan of Kiev and All Ukraine, in his sermon during the Divine Liturgy at the Dormition Kiev-Pechersk Lavra on March 8, 2020, the Sunday of Orthodoxy, reports Lavra.ua.
“Today the Holy Orthodox Church prayerfully thanks God for helping us to preserve the purity of the Holy Orthodox faith and the purity of concepts about God. Through this the Lord gave us hope for a blessed earthly life and for salvation in eternal life. Today we thank God for making it possible to preserve the purity of the Orthodox faith. We must continue to do this in order to convey the purity of faith to our children and descendants,” said the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
As the metropolitan noted, the faith is very important for a person and gives the right guideline where to go.
“When a person walks by faith, he eventually becomes convinced that he does everything right and thinks correctly, and reaches his goal. So the faith, given to us in the Holy Gospel, confirmed by the ordinances of the Holy Councils and by the Holy Fathers, is the guideline that shows a person where he must go in order to reach God, in order to be reconciled with God and in order to find joy, bliss, and true happiness for himself in God,” said His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry.
The metropolitan wished Christians that the Lord would help them not only to think and believe in a pure way, but also to live by faith.
“When a person lives by the holy faith, he himself becomes a saint. He already has God’s blessing here on earth and salvation in Heaven in Our Lord Jesus Christ!” said His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry.
