“The behavior of representatives of the Islamic State is a horrible challenge to us all,” the patriarch said during a meeting with Patriarch of Antioch and All the East John X in Moscow on Thursday.
Patriarch Kirill said ISIS militants not commit cruel killings of Christians and on-Christians, proclaim radical and unacceptable political ideas to everyone who does not belong to their group, create chaos in the Middle East, deliberately or not, and demonize Islam in the eyes of the whole world.”
“No one can do a more horrible thing to Islam than what they are doing,” he said.
The patriarch said Islamic leaders “should not think solely about their currently political goals, especially when they support the ISIS, directly or indirectly, they should clearly understand that it is a blow to the entire Islamic world above all.”
