Delivering his speech, Metropolitan Onuphrius, in particular, noted:
“Today we understand that we lack precisely this blessed world, the origin of which is the Lord. Therefore, we have gathered and joined in prayer for our government, which has been built and strengthened by the Orthodox faith, piety, and by fraternal love for all people for centuries.
The Church, together with the Ukrainian people, improves the strength of its faith, teaching that all tests are sent by God, Who loves us, and we will undergo them with gratitude.
People will not die, bloodshed will be over, and peaceful life will begin in the East regions. We have an aim of understanding that peaceful existence of the people is impossible without the restoration of spiritual principles in its life. Christian love for a neighbor, which the Mother Church encourages us to have, preaching eternal truths of the Gospel, is the key to resolving this difficult situation and settling the conflict.”
